Quartz is a naturally occurring stone extracted from the earth, similar to diamonds. Cambria Quartz utilizes varying sizes of the purest, whitest quartz stones, some as small as sand grains. These stones are combined with 7% pigments and resin, then compressed to create a robust, dense, non-porous slab, mimicking the earth's compression of granite.

As a general guideline, one-third of the countertop width can be unsupported. The maximum unsupported overhang is 15 inches for quartz and 12 inches for granite countertops.

Most kitchens require seams due to material and handling constraints. Our engineering team works diligently to align veining and movement within your chosen material. CRA Granite Design will provide a countertop layout prior to fabrication, allowing you to see seam locations. We utilize state-of-the-art tools and techniques to achieve industry-leading seam quality. We recommend viewing a sample at one of our showrooms.

To prepare for installation, please empty your cabinets and remove drawers, placing them outside the work area. Clear the area of all construction materials. As countertops are extremely heavy and can cause serious injury if dropped, please keep children and pets away from the work area. Our technicians will need to make numerous trips between the kitchen and an outdoor work area, so please ensure a clear path for them.

Installation duration varies significantly depending on the specifics of each project. However, in most cases, the installation can be completed within a single day.

Granite is an excellent choice for kitchen countertops due to its exceptional hardness, surpassed only by diamond, sapphire, and ruby. Once polished, granite maintains its high gloss indefinitely. It resists scratches from normal use of kitchen utensils and cookware. Granite also exhibits remarkable heat resistance, making it safer than synthetic surfaces containing polyesters and resins. While trivets are recommended for cleanliness, pots and pans heated to 900 degrees Fahrenheit will not diminish granite's lustrous finish.
